{"id":119,"date":"2008-09-01T06:35:18","date_gmt":"2008-09-01T06:35:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.journeytorussia.co.uk\/?p=119"},"modified":"2008-09-01T06:35:18","modified_gmt":"2008-09-01T06:35:18","slug":"on-the-road-at-last","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelondonbiker.com\/blog\/2008\/09\/on-the-road-at-last\/","title":{"rendered":"On the road at last"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3214\/2810758117_10f37ff26c_m.jpg?w=1290\" alt=\"Me and Stace with our heater meals\" align=\"right\" style=\"padding-left:5px\" \/>Yesterday didn&#8217;t go quite as planned \u2013 our dear partner in crime (Patrick) was three hours late to the party and turned up just as Stace and I had finished the emotional goodbyes with our families&#8230; so we went without him&#8230;. he managed to over-take us on the way to Harwich though so the joke was on us as we arrived at the ferry and he was already through passport control and waiting for us to get on!<\/p>\n<p>The party was fantastic \u2013 there&#8217;s loads of photos on Facebook \u2013 go look&#8230; they&#8217;re there somewhere&#8230; I should have ordered more food.. and certainly should have made more potato salad \u2013 fun fun fun&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Today was really long \u2013 I didn&#8217;t sleep at all on the ferry and just hit a brick wall at about 2pm \u2013 I had to pull over and force down Red Bull \u2013 it&#8217;s hideous by the way \u2013 but it did get me to Berlin in one piece.<\/p>\n<p>We saw nothing of Holland and Germany other than the motorway network \u2013 that was always the plan \u2013 but still it still feels a bit wrong.
