{"id":129,"date":"2007-12-28T09:38:51","date_gmt":"2007-12-28T09:38:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thelondonbiker.com\/blog\/?p=129"},"modified":"2007-12-28T09:38:51","modified_gmt":"2007-12-28T09:38:51","slug":"afritrex-5-marathons-5-mountains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelondonbiker.com\/blog\/2007\/12\/afritrex-5-marathons-5-mountains\/","title":{"rendered":"Afritrex &#8211; 5 Marathons, 5 Mountains"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Holly cow. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afritrex.com\/index.php\" title=\"Afritrex Website\">These guys are totally nuts.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Seriously&#8230; I thought we were mad in our <a href=\"http:\/\/journeytorussia.co.uk\" title=\"Journey To Russia Website\">little jaunt over to Russia<\/a> and back, but compared to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afritrex.com\/afritrex_the_team.php\" title=\"Ben and Owen\">Ben and Owen<\/a>, we&#8217;re off for a stroll in the park.<\/p>\n<p>I love this kind of thing; Ben and Owen are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afritrex.com\/afritrex_the_challenges.php\" title=\"Look at the map and route\">driving counter clockwise around Africa<\/a> &#8211; enough of a challenge on it&#8217;s own &#8211; but to make things interesting they&#8217;re also going to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>        To complete five marathons of at least 26 miles<\/li>\n<li>To climb five of the highest mountains in Africa<\/li>\n<li>To visit as many of the sites across Africa where the Victoria Cross has been won as possible (VC180 Challenge) and<\/li>\n<li>To hold a number of transport technology workshops based around the Trailblazer project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;m already excited about tracking the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dakar.com\/indexus.html\" title=\"Dakar\">Dakar (starting Jan 5th<\/a>) but this now also gives me something else to watch in Africa &#8211; it also gives me something else to spend my money on &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afritrex.com\/afritrex_sponsorship.php\" title=\"Donate to Afritrex\">in fact perhaps you should consider donating to<\/a> &#8211; it&#8217;s pretty damn impressive and they deserve to raise a stupid amount of money for their chosen charity.<\/p>\n<p>Good luck guys!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Holly cow.
